Woman Died Due to Fell Down In Sewer: It is raining heavily in many states of India these days. Due to which people are facing a lot of trouble. In Mumbai too, people’s life is disrupted due to rain. Many places are flooded. So yesterday, a 45 year old woman died after falling into a drain in Andheri area of Mumbai.
In this matter, Mumbai Police has registered a case against BMC i.e. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and a contractor of BMC. After this incident, BMC has also ordered an investigation. The husband of the deceased woman has blamed the negligence of the Municipal Corporation for his wife’s death. What happens in such cases when someone dies due to the fault of the department? Case filed against BMC and contractor
Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, there was waterlogging at many places. Due to which people had to face a lot of trouble. Due to waterlogging in Andheri area, 45 year old woman Vimal Anil Gaikwad fell into the drain. After which an effort was made by BMC to save them. Even after searching for about an hour, the woman was pulled out of the drain. After that the woman was taken to the hospital where doctors declared her dead. At present, Mumbai Police has registered a case against BMC and a contractor of BMC in this matter. What is the provision for punishment and compensation in such cases?

This much punishment is given for death due to negligence
If someone dies due to someone’s negligence, that person is considered guilty of culpable homicide. In such cases, a case is registered under section 104-(1) of BNS. In which the punishment can be up to 7 years in jail. Along with this, there is also a provision for fine. A case has been registered against BMC and a contractor regarding the death of a woman in Andheri, Mumbai. The woman’s husband has also accused BMC of negligence.

There are different provisions for compensation in case of death due to disasters in different states of the country. Due to rain in Mumbai, the drain level had come down to ground level. Due to which the woman died after falling into that drain. Deaths due to rain come under the category of natural disaster. In such cases, Maharashtra government gives compensation up to Rs 4 lakh.
